Best Werewolf Romance Books
When I look at werewolf romance books, there are so many options that you might have a hard time choosing. Therefore, I’ve listed the 10 best romantic werewolf books for you so you can make a better decision. I will update the list as I read new werewolf romance novels.
Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright (The Phoenix Pack Series)
I recently had the pleasure of reading Suzanne Wright’s “Feral Sins,” and let me tell you, it’s a page-turner! Taryn Warner, a female wolf shifter, meets Trey Coleman, an alpha male wolf shifter with a violent reputation, in the novel. Taryn is resolved to ignore Trey’s enticements, but she is pulled to his commanding presence and piercing blue eyes.
The book is packed with action, romance, and political maneuvering as Taryn and Trey work to convince their respective packs that they’ve chosen each other as mates. This not only brings Trey valuable political allies but also allows Taryn to escape an arranged mating.
One of my favorite aspects of this novel was the relationship between Taryn and Trey. Taryn is a strong, independent woman who can hold her own against Trey’s alpha energy, and their chemistry is electrifying. I really liked the addition of pack politics and the potential dangers that Taryn and Trey must avoid.
“Feral Sins” is a must-read for werewolf romance fans. If Taryn and Trey’s narrative isn’t enough for you, the series includes the entire pack.
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (The Wolves of Mercy Falls Series)
Introduction to The Story of Shiver
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to fall in love with a werewolf? That’s exactly what happens in Maggie Stiefvater’s “Shiver.” This young adult fantasy novel tells the story of Grace, a girl fascinated by yellow-eyed wolves in the woods behind her home, and Sam, a boy who can switch between human and wolf form.
The first encounter between Grace and Sam
The story begins when Grace and Sam meet for the first time when they are eleven years old and Grace saves her from a pack of wolves. From that moment on, she couldn’t help thinking about the yellow-eyed wolf who had saved her. As She grows older, she continues to observe wolves in the forest and is particularly interested in the yellow-eyed wolf.
The unique characteristics of the werewolves in the story
It seems that these wolves shapeshift according to temperature changes. In the summer they are humans, but in the winter they are wolves. Unlike other werewolf stories, these wolves do not continue to have human thoughts and emotions while in wolf form. They are complete animals. As a wolf, Sam does not remember human life.
The re-encounter between Grace and Sam
When Grace and Sam meet again, when she’s 17 and he’s 18, she finds him shot and bleeding on his back deck. A naked boy freezing outside. She brings him in and helps him out, and quickly realizes that this is his yellow-eyed wolf. His yellow eyes give him away.
The twist in the story and the subplot with other characters
The twist in the story is that Sam is running out of time. This is his last season as a human before becoming a wolf for the rest of his life. He doesn’t tell this to Grace at first and wants to spend as much time with her as possible. Meanwhile, some other kids have been bitten by wolves, and there’s a really good subplot going on with good side characters.
The emotional journey of Grace and Sam’s relationship
As the story progresses, you can feel the sadness as time ticks by. The relationship between Grace and Sam is both sweet and tragic. It’s a story of first love and the struggle to accept who you are.
Overall recommendation for this best werewolf romance book
Overall I would say Shiver is a uniquely romantic werewolf novel. I highly recommend “Shiver”. I ordered the second book in the series, and can’t wait to start reading.
Jason & Cadence by R.E. Butler (The Wolf’s Mate Series)
Alpha wolf Jason watched his partially marked wife Cadence live his life without him for 14 years. Circumstances force her, and she must find a way to get her to uncover buried memories of their past before someone else steps in to take her from her.
Cadence, the half-blood wolf, has loved Jason with every ounce of her being for as long as she can remember, but Jason has continually pushed her away until the love there is bound together by anger and shame. No one can take his place in his heart, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t wolves willing to try.
Will Cadence be able to engrave Jason’s icy demeanor into the heart of the boy she’s always loved? Will Jason be able to undo the past so they can have a future together?
This book contains fiery werewolf love, lots of neck biting, and kitchen counter abuse. Jason & Cadence is an adult-only book and contains explicit content. It is one of the best werewolf romance books for adults.
Alpha’s Temptation: A Billionaire Werewolf Romance by Renee Rose (Bad Boy Alphas Book Series)
As someone who loves trying new authors, I decided to give Renee Rose’s “Alpha’s Temptation” a chance and I’m glad I did. The book is a billionaire shifter paranormal romance and it hit all the right spots for me. The writing is easy to read with light angst and heavy dialogue, which I loved.
Kylie, the heroine, is a hacker and a bit of a nerd, which I found relatable and endearing. The story starts off with a cute meet cute as Kylie gets trapped in an elevator with the CEO of the company, Jackson King. One thing I really enjoyed about this book is that Kylie doesn’t know who Jackson is and she’s trying to discover the truth throughout the book.
Jackson King, the hero, is a billionaire, a computer-coding and hot AF man who also happens to be a wolf shifter. He is immediately taken by Kylie, and I appreciated that the instant-love between the two of them felt believable.
The plot keeps you engaged and is full of shifter romance, steamy hot sex scenes and strong alpha male and kickass female characters. I enjoyed the tension and chemistry between the characters and would have loved more details about the pack dynamics and an epilogue, but it did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves wolf shifter romance books and steamy hot scenes.
Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright (The Mercury Pack Series)
I just finished” Spiral of Need” by Suzanne Wright and I’ve to say, it was an instigative trip. The book tells the story and loves of Ally, a Seer wolf-changer, and Derren, Beta of the Mercury Pack. Their chemistry was sizzling, and the action was continuous.
The characters were well-developed, and the story had a great balance of humor, action, and love. I would recommend this book to suckers of changing love novels, and especially to those who are formerly suckers of Suzanne Wright’s work.
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs (Mercy Thompson Series)
“Moon Called” by Patricia Briggs is a must-read for fans of the urban fantasy genre. The book tells the story of Mercy, a relatable and engaging coyote shifter as she navigates the complex dynamics of werewolf packs and supernatural creatures like vampires and fae.
The world-building is impressive and the relationships between the characters, especially Adam and Sam, are intriguing and keep more to come in future books.
The magic elements in the book, especially werewolf magic and herd dynamics, are fascinating and add to the overall enjoyment of the book. With a versatile protagonist, a unique universe, and fascinating relationships, “Moon Called” is a satisfying and enjoyable read that will leave you wanting more.
